Briscola
Briscola is a traditional Italian trick-taking card game, usually played with a 40-card Italian deck but also adaptable to a standard deck. It can be played by 2 to 6 players, with 2 or 4 being the most common.
At the beginning of the game, each player receives three cards. A single card is revealed from the deck to determine the trump suit (called Briscola), and the rest of the deck is placed face-down with the trump card visible underneath.
Players take turns playing one card each to a trick. The rules for capturing are simple:
-
If the played cards are of the same suit, the higher card wins.
-
If different suits are played, a trump card (Briscola suit) wins over any non-trump.
-
If neither of the above applies, the first card played wins the trick.
The winner of each trick collects the cards and draws a new card from the deck before the next round. Play continues until all cards are used.
Each card has a point value:
-
Ace = 11 points
-
3 = 10 points
-
King = 4 points
-
Knight (or Queen in some versions) = 3 points
-
Jack = 2 points
-
All other cards = 0 points
There are 120 points available in total. The player or team with more than 60 points at the end wins the game.
A match in this version will finish as soonone player reach 2 wins.
